Hi everyone,
How is the spring sun treating you so far?
Have you noticed something: every heart wants loving connections?  I have yet to meet one person whose heart does not want to receive and give love.  In today’s issue Nancy Depcik is going to share another episode of her incredible life journey.  This time it’s about the magic of a loving connection found in a very unexpected way.
In the Quick Tip, I’ll share a technique to connect our heart with the vast healing rays of the spring sun.  It rejuvenates our body, mind, heart and soul.



Take a Moment for Your Breath

You can shift you inner “weather condition” in as little as one minute or less.  The more you practice, the more immediate and effective the shift will be.  Use this one minute to train your mind and body to stay in the present, which connects us with the past, future, and through eternity.  One minute can indeed be a vast amount of time :)
Now bring your palms together in the universal prayer pose to balance both hemispheres of your brain.  Exhale completely, then inhale deeply from the belly.  Repeat 3 times.

 My Journey With Geri

Has your life ever been turned upside down?  Where you find yourself standing there thinking “what just happened?”  Well, several years ago, I found myself in a nightmare.  My 15-year relationship suddenly ended, and I didn’t see it coming.  As a result of that, I lost just about everything: my business, my home, and worst of all my self-esteem.

Have you ever been knocked off your feet so hard you didn’t know how you were going to get through the day?  Have you ever been so scared, you couldn’t get out of bed in the morning?  Well, that’s how I felt.  I felt like I had  been crumpled up, tossed to the ground and dug in the dirt.  I felt worthless.

My good friend, Asha, was worried about me.  She came over one day and gently slid a piece of paper in front of me.
“What’s that”?  I asked.
She simply replied: “It’s just an application for volunteer work.”
“Volunteer work!” I screamed.   “I don’t have anything to offer anyone else.  I have nothing to give.  I’m worthless.”

As she walked out the door, she looked over her shoulder and said “Just think about it.  It might make you feel better.”
That piece of paper laid on the table for days.  But Asha’s words kept ringing in my ears – “It might make you feel better”.   At that time, I would have done anything to feel better.  So one day I picked up the application and called the number.  It was for an organization called HOME – Housing Opportunities and Maintenance for the Elderly.  It turned out that they had a little old lady who was depressed and they wanted someone to read to her, play a game with her or talk to her.  “I could probably do that,” I mumbled to myself.

At this time I was so distraught that I couldn’t even complete a full thought – I couldn’t even make a complete sentence.  But here’s this little old lady who was probably incoherent and hard of hearing, kind of just like me, I reasoned:”  Who cares if I can’t complete a full thought.  She probably can’t hear me anyway, and if she does, she will probably forget what I said in five minutes.  Why not?”

So I said yes – and into my life entered Geri Franklin.  I’ll never forget the first time I met Geri.  I walked into her apartment building, took the elevator to the 5th floor, walked down this long narrow hallway, and knocked on the door.  When she opened her door, I was startled.  Geri was six-feet tall and weighed  82 pounds.  It was like a giant string bean starring back at me.  She wore a bright turquoise turban on the top of her head.  You couldn’t see a strand of her hair.  And from head to toe, she was covered with cat hair.  She was quite a sight, but you would never guess what  a wonderful spirit she had within her.

Every time I visited her, she would have a big smile on her face, reach out and give me a gigantic hug.  She called me her angel.  She would listen to my stories of how my man had done me wrong, and at the end of my story she’d yell out “that dirty…”  Then we’d both laugh so hard until tears ran down our cheeks.  When I was leaving, she told me she’d miss me.  And guess what?  After a few visits with her, I didn’t feel so worthless anymore.

And she taught me one of the most valuable lessons of my life: no matter what happens, no matter what comes your way, you can never, ever lose your worth.

So here’s my tip if you ever find yourself questioning your own worth:  do something useful for others or reach out to someone who needs help.   You never know what magic it can trigger in your own life.  And please keep me posted!

This Week’s Quick Tip

Loneliness is when our heart closes down because of painful experiences from the past.  We put up walls to protect ourselves from further intrusion.  A lot of times we are not even aware of the process, but just feel that somehow we’ve grown “different,” maybe even “weird” and separate from others.  From that sense of separation comes all the feeling of worthlessness, being not good enough, not beautiful enough, not prosperous enough…

In truth, a lot of times challenges in life actually force us to reconnect with the “outside” world in a new way that would (re) awaken our heart and support us to grow onto a higher level of happiness.

So place your hands on your heart.  Exhale completely and inhale deeply.  Repeat 3 times.  Then ask your heart:  is there anything you desire that I have been putting off or ignoring?  If you are like most people, chances are:  yes, you have ignored your heart’s desire in one way or another.  If that’s the case, ask your heart:  Why?  You are the center of my being, why would I ignore your desire?  Then, just listen, and listen some more …

Once you get the response, bring your focus back to your heart and your breathing.   See the great spring sun radiating its massive light from your heart, illuminating your chest, entire body, entire being.  Each and every cell is bathed in the ocean of sunshine from your heart.  Exhale completely and inhale deeply.  Repeat 3 times or longer if you prefer.
End this sweet conversation with your heart in Love Peace Light.   Do it for yourself and thousands of others who are suffering from similar difficulties.

Check Out This One

This week I’d like to introduce you to “the Yoga of Immortality” currently available online.  (Click on Shakti Naam under the Naam Yoga Tab.)  It’s a form of yoga that has been used by Paramahansa Yogananda, Jawaharlal Nehru (India’s first Prime Minister) and his daughter Indira Gandhi who became Prime Minister in 1966.  I’ve done many different types of yoga for the past 25 years, and really appreciate this one.  It increases your breathing capacity, renews and rejuvenates internal organs, and connects you with your heart.

The teaching is also available in various location in the USA, Mexico and throughout Europe.
